# 104 - Center of the Universe, Colorado Plateau
In the vast region known as the Colorado Plateau, amazing sandstone features can be found. The clouds in this scene were fantastic and completed this composition. All visual roads lead the eye to the small sandstone formation in the rear of the photo - hence my title. These clouds remind me of a scene in the movie “The Ten Commandments” where the 10th plague killed the 1st born son of all that did not paint their door posts in blood. Hollywood showed the plague approaching via clouds that came down vertically from the sky just like these except they were green. These were far happier clouds. The sky in this image exposed darkly because the sandstone was so bright. I used the computer to restore the sky to its proper lighter blue cast.
This is the only trail in the Grand Canyon that follows ridge tops as it winds down to the Colorado River from the south rim. This is wonderful, as the hiker is rewarded with many more views than are possible when hiking in drainages. About half way down to the canyon floor, a gentle spring breeze blows wild flowers in this view of the Colorado River.
