# 1 - Mayflower Gulch: Ten Mile Range, Co

No filters were used in this moonlight scene shot at F 2.8 for a time of 20 seconds. The color around the moon was caused by a high thin layer of ice crystals, and the warm orange color in the cabin window is how candle light appears over 20 seconds. These old ranchers cabins used to be kept up by an informal club so that you could spend the night in them surrounded by stars as people were on this night. I used to think that since old cabins had been standing for many years before I first saw them, they would stand for a great many more. It saddens me to say that only the cabin with the light in the window remains standing as of 1996. The others have succumbed to the elements and only piles of logs remain below the snow. Date of photo was approximately 1977.
