# 142 - Opabin Plateau text, Yoho National Park, Canada
While I struggle with the concept of restrictions that prevent public access, I must say that in some cases the sheer magnificence as well as the fragility of the environment justify the action. This area is highly restricted. Reservations must be made nearly a year in advance, cars are not allowed, and numbers of people each day are strictly limited. The payoff for those who overcome these obstacles is a view of wilderness free of the paths commonly trampled along lake shores. The late afternoon sun sets the Larch tress aglow in their yellow splendor in contrast to the dark shadows of approaching dusk. White puffs of Cotton Grass copy the new dusting of snow on the distant peaks as well as the brilliant clouds. It comforts me to know this scene is well protected and that future generations will be able to see it much as it appears here.
