# 125 - While you were sleeping series: Temple of the Moon Capital Reef National Monument, Utah
This rocky landmark rises freely out of the desert floor in a remote section of Capital Reef. It took two nights to compose this scene. The first night I located the precise camera angle where the North Star would appear at the top of the spire and marked the spot. The second day I set up the camera and when night fell, captured the Temple of the Moon illuminated by its namesake in a 3 hour and 25 minute time exposure. The moon set during the exposure but provided just enough light in that time to softly illuminate the formation. One may wonder how there could be enough light to record this at night but the math shows that this image is 1,537,500 times longer than the average 1/ 125 of a second daytime shot. This image is a limited edition run of 250 total of all sizes combined. Each print will be numbered.
