#143 Sneffels moonlight, Sneffels Range, Colorado One June day as I was scouting for a composition for a long night exposure, I came across this huge field of yellow wildflowers called Arrowleaf Balsamroot. I had been to this location numerous times but had never seen these flowers blooming in such profusion. The locals told me that two days earlier not a single flower was open. Timing is everything. I began this exposure at 9:53 PM when it was completely dark, leaving the lens open for 6 hours and 45 minutes. The blurred flowers look surreal because there was a fierce wind blowing the whole night. I am surprised that with all the motion, they came out at all. The stars streak through the night sky accompanied by the moon itself, which appears as the wide path in the upper left corner. I used computer manipulation to remove two lens flares from either ends of the moon trail. No other adjustments were made.
